This page offers information on four different individuals, each a professor at Black Mountain College, that were severely effected by the conditions leading to World War II prior to their employment at the college. There were many individuals of both the faculty and students who had been European refugees, parolees from United States Internment Camps, or that had been displaced by rising fascist regimes. Samuel Brown, a previous student at Black Mountain College, remarked in an interview that each one of his professors but two had previously been European refugees.
